Odessa Grand Prix
Race History
The Odessa Grand Prix race was first organized in 1995 by Odessa Cyclists Union. The main idea of the race was recovery of racing movement
after the collapse of the USSR. Enthusiasts decided to hold several competitions during a season, using сup system. The first race winner was Oleg Berezovsky
with 10 points advantage over Igor Shafigulin.
Since 2001 the race has been organized by Southern Cycling League (Odessa). Competitions format was changed to stage race. Grigory Ischenko was the winner
of the two stages and of the points classification.
In 2002-2003 the winner of the race was determined by the best time.
In 2004 Odessa Grand Prix format was changed to single-day race
In 2007 the race rose to higher levels and obtained all-ukrainian status. That year Vitaly Kondrut celebrated the victory.
Since 2008 Odessa Grand Prix have obtained Ukrainian Cup status, till 2014.
In 2015 the race got 1.2 UCI category.
